SINGAPORE — Today, independent rock band Foc Fashion released “Rat Race,” their fourth single since reforming in Singapore with the addition of bassist Mathew Wong, joining original members Mark Sy and Miguel Saballa.
Arriving in early January, “Rat Race” is deliberately timed to mirror the collective return to routine after the holiday season. The song channels the quiet exhaustion of modern working life — a theme the band describes as “that universal un-feeling born from workday jadedness — whether it’s office politics, being stuck in a stale role, or doing things for people you don’t like to afford the cost of living.” The track connects that shared disconnect, and, as the band hints, may even offer some hard-earned advice.
Written by Mark Sy & Miguel Saballa and composed by Sy, Saballa, and Wong, “Rat Race” continues Foc Fashion’s steady run of releases following earlier singles “Space,” “Baloney,” and “Zombies.” All four tracks form part of an ongoing album campaign currently in development, with the new single serving as the latest chapter in the band’s re-energized creative phase.
Produced by Chuck Buenaventura and featuring cover art by Wong (also of Hyperfolk Studios), “Rat Race” is now available on all major streaming platforms. In the first week since its release, the song has already been listed on Spotify playlists such as .ORG, All New Rock, and Indie Shuffle.
